Train like a Viking -Chieftain Haffœddr

Vikings. they are the folk who are most associated with our religion when it comes to the public. And lets be honest most of us found our way here from watching Viking movies and TV shows. For me it was "The 13th Warrior" where Antonio Banderas Plays a man from the middle east that somehow ends up going on this epic quest with a group of River Raiders called 'the north men" to fight some Crazy cave dwelling Cannibals. that and of course Beowulf and Grendel. the long and the short of it is, most of us wanna be like those raiders of the past, but unfortunately raiding and taking what you want by force is a big No-No. so how can we best emulate our Viking forefathers (and mothers)? Aside from enlisting in the military, which I highly recommend as it is a great way to serve your home and the Gods have always smiled on honorable warriors, How can I make myself like a Viking? Two words. work. out. start with something small, a 1 mile walk, run, or jog, and throw in something else afterwards, 10 pushups, 10 setups.

Now here's the other part of that. Did the Vikings have Taco Bell? McDonalds? Wendy's? the answer, unsurprisingly, is no. so they never put all of this junk into their systems and polluted their bodies with over processed food, high fructose corn syrup, SODA. Eat Clean! Now don't get me wrong, ill go get me a Chalupa from T-bell every now and then because them things is DELICIOUS, but it cant be "A Big-Mac a day keeps the Healthy away" you need to have a meat and some leafy greens other than Iceberg Lettuce, I'm talkin Kale, Collard Greens, Spinach, all those nutrient rich veggies that you've had an aversion to since you were a little kid, its time to fall in love with them! (or hate them so much that you want to devour them so they cant hurt anyone else, whatever you gotta do, just eat it.) If we want to emulate our Gods and Goddesses we have to be honest with ourselves. most of our gods are warriors, if not all, and a warrior cant be 800Lbs of Flub and be able to fight effectively, and you sure as Hel ain't hiding that behind a shield wall.

This isn't a post to make you feel bad about your body, this is a post about MY body that I'm Mad about because a year ago I was 175Lbs and could run 2 miles in 15 minutes without too much pain, now I'm 210lbs and I almost passed out after an 11 minute 1 mile JOG! if we want to be like them we have to work as hard as them. if you don't work a manual labor job like me, then you have GOT to work out, otherwise we just become sedentary and pack on the winter weight when we should be trying to get our Spring Raiding Bods ready to go slap some Saxons. you are your biggest Enemy when it comes to Physical fitness. Get up. Get Active. And kick Every Days Butt. until Next time. Skal.
